It's Gnome's design and philosophy, and it won't change because it's what make Gnome being Gnome (i.e. an unusable desktop environment, that's just works(TM) done by lazy coders)*.

Why don't YOU change for KDE ? You're not bound to use Gnome if it doesn't fit your needs.

Developers rank Microsoft tops for Web 2.0 program->

hhavensteincw writes "Web 2.0 developers ranked Microsoft's MSN/Live developer program better than Google, Yahoo, Facebook and Amazon in a wide variety of categories including user satisfaction for its Web services, SDKs, documentation and forums, in a survey released today from Evans Data. In the Web services category Microsoft came in on top this year after ranking last in the year-earlier survey. Google ranked second followed by Yahoo. Facebook ranked sixth out of seven for best developer programs with 77% of developers saying that they had experienced at least some degree of difficulty integrating Facebook technologies with their apps. As far as profiting from the programs,38% of developers said they had not benefited financially from using eBay's developer program, while 36% said the same for Yahoo, 33% for Amazon, 27% for Google , 20% for PayPal and 9% for Microsoft."
