"Last Saturday we had our annual company Christmas party. It was a lot of fun as usual but it featured one special surprise. It turns out that several people had been secretly working late nights and into the wee hours of the morning preparing a special video for those at the party. They created a short teaser for Duke Nukem Forever. After seeing the teaser we thought it was something we should share with all of you and while it's just a teaser, rest assured more is coming. Now, a new developer is using the same method to protect his software, aptly named Display Eater. In the developers's own words, 'There exist several illegal cd-keys that you can use to unlock the demo program. If Display Eater detects that you are using these, it will erase something. I don't know if this is going to become Display Eater policy. If this level of piracy continues, development will stop.'"

AbsoluteXyro writes "In an effort to control costs Sony has nerfed some PS3 functionality for the upcoming PAL launch. Most notably, Wii-like motion sensing control has been ditched. This is another kick in the behoogies for PAL territories, after long delays and the recent news that backwards compatibility would be limited. Sucks to be those guys."

Kishyotai writes "The French phone equipment firm Alcatel-Lucent recently won its suit against Microsoft, citing that the company broke two patents for converting audio files into MP3 format. Microsoft claimed that they had already licensed the MP3 technology, paying 16$ million to the German firm Fraunhofer."
