They're doing a fair bit more than that, they gave this as a parting gift to active TR players when they were announcing the closing: * 3 free months of City of Heroes including digital client * 3 free months of Lineage II including digital client * Aion beta access (coming soon) * Aion pre-order access (available in 2009) * 1 free month of Aion (including digital client, no physical goods, available in 2009)

The thing is its not just an academic network for only academic purposes. A whole lot of college students LIVE there and don't go home every day like say at a workplace and they should expect a reasonable internet connection just like in any home. Getting a separate internet connection is not an option in any college I'm familiar with, the companies won't do it.

crazyeyes writes "Here is a must-read for AMD and Intel fans alike. Flame-bait material for sure. Watch how AMD manipulates the benchmark data of the new Barcelona quad-core processor to fool buyers and investors. Read and laugh or weep. Quote from article -

The data was presented in the form of easy-to-understand charts. That's great for everyone, particularly investors who may not understand the technical information and data. However, those who look closely will see that the charts have been skewed to present a far more optimistic view of the processor than the data really suggests.

The most common (and easiest) way to skew data is to make the Y-axis start at a higher number. This has the effect of making any difference appear much larger than it really is. Let's take a look at the AMD charts for example.

Submitted by THX-1138
THX-1138 (666) writes "A few months ago, Trent Reznor (frontman of the band Nine Inch Nails), was in Australia doing an interview when he commented on the outrageous prices of CDs there. Apparently now his label, Universal Media Group is angry at him for having said that. During a concert last night , he told this to fans, "...Has anyone seen the price come down? Okay, well, you know what that means — STEAL IT. Steal away. Steal and steal and steal some more and give it to all your friends and keep on stealin'. Because one way or another these mother**** will get it through their head that they're ripping people off and that that's not right."

The YouTube link contains a video recorded by a fan that shows his full speech during the concert."
