As another hacked reader, yeah I'm unhappy about this too. Considering that I was donating to wikileaks before, this is just painful.

Stratfor's just come out with their email, 8pm, not great, but here we are. They've done the standard 1yr prepaid monitoring service for identity theft.

I looked around to verify that my CC was actually breached (who knows, maybe it was a card I've already canceled?), but all the primary copies of the CC list seem inaccessible. It'd be lovely if they were taken down before I become collateral damage in all this, but it hasn't exactly been a lucky week.

Canceling the card, and watching the account like a hawk. It's all we can do, and hopefully it's enough.

I haven't posted a journal here in almost three years, because I couldn't find the button to start a new entry. ...yeah, it turns out that it's at the bottom of the page.

So... hi, Slashdot. I used to be really active here, but now I mostly lurk and read. I've missed you.

On your resume, it'll read like this:

I finished school, and interviewed. While every reasonable CS student on the planet, especially in 2011, can get an actual programming gig, I couldn't. So I took a glorified Geek-Squad gig instead*.

* It doesn't matter what the actual job was. It's in IT and not programming, it'll be read the same as geek squad.

I went straight to the Market to download the browser for my Android. Fired it up... now I'm stuck at "Request sent. Waiting for response..."

I suspect that every other T-Mobile Android user on Slashdot is doing the same, and the poor guy's SMS gateway is now a smoldering heap of slag.

Interestingly, the Market reported that the download count was "10+". Obviously, there's some latency there...

I think for my first Android software project I'm going to come up with a text message like program that uses your data plan. I could make a killing on something like that if it took off. Although I'll probably get my ass sued off by patent trolls so I may not bother.

Right after you build your time machine to go back in time 4 years before the 100+ other people already made apps that do just that for Android / iOS.

Yeah, but he'll still have a niche, in the 45 minutes between when his app hits the Market and when the process server brings the patent lawsuit papers.

Given sufficient time, what you put off doing today will get done by itself.
