The GPU's of history and forever? ->

Submitted by KKnDz0r
KKnDz0r writes "Gameplayer has put up an interesting little look-see into the world of GPU's that have moved our video card using world, forming the memories, the loves and the hates that we've all come to know throughout our history of gaming. Everything from the original NVIDIA NV1 through to the keep-on-keeping-on 8800GT is mentioned in a collection of video card history that's worth a look for anyone that's ever caressed a piece of GPU silicon in ways that just aren't right unless you're a geek with a love of graphics technology beyond the norm. Naughty geek!....."

SlappingOysters writes "Gameplayer has gone live with an in-depth feature that chronicles the most influential graphics card in history, highlighting the very best and worst examples and detailing how each acted to shape the paths of both technology and gaming. This includes images of each, and the specifications that matter. Here is a quote...

"So we're going to present you with a list that encompasses not only newcomers and powerhouses of the present day, but the cards that started it all, the ones that existed back in the chaotic technology fray of the 90s. We won't get through every single one because there's just too many, and although we'd like to take time out at length to pay homage to the GLINT or Number Nine's woefully expensive 'Imagine 128', we've had to cherry pick some of the highlights (and a couple of lowlights) from the evolution of 3D graphics that are worth celebrating and respecting geek style.""

MMOs, time-release vapourware? ->

KKnDz0r writes "Australian technology & gaming site 'Atomic' raises an interesting question about the dangers of MMOs that go bust. Are they part of a new breed of games that render themselves completely useless and without value if the parent company goes belly up? Certainly seems that way, with Fury and now Hellgate: London both going to software heaven leaving a player base holding relatively useless client software."

A history of Sex & Games->

KKnDz0r writes "Interesting look at the history (and current state) of the world of sexually themed games. Covers a fair bit of ground, from the 8-bit cringe-fest that was Custers Revenge, to the largely homebrew scene of 'Teledildonics'. What a fantastic bunch of perverts we all are."
