On Linux ( fedora4 to 11 ,opensuse 11.1 through 12.2 ,centos5.0 through 6.3 ) i have never had issues in setting up the Apache stack .Mind you i install it from source .

GRASS and GDAL( FWtools2&3) no problems at all
the same for the main gis related tool i use on ScientificLinux6.3 "ISIS3" and "stereo-pipline"

inkscape and scribus could not be any easier to install
" yum install inkscape scribus"
or
"zypper in inkscape scribus"

libreoffice4( or OO3.6) on the current opensuse12.2 is two very short rpm commands
to me it was a lot less hassle than on win7
dealing with oracle's bundled crap-ware

about the only current Linux OS that gives me problems is BT5r3 -- well it is BT5 after all

I read that on the 23 of Jan

BUT recently i was installing a java update before that ( before the zero day bug)
On a win7 machine as is normal i DO a custom install and READ EVERY screen .
I nearly missed it

the ask and mcafee radio boxes WERE GRAYED OUT ( and checked !!! )
i almost did not uncheck the ( not working grayed out links) but they WERE WORKING !!!!!!!!
and grayed out !!!!!!!

this might cause all kinds of problems
if
the data is in the jpg2000 format the the hirise site uses
http://hirise.lpl.arizona.edu/

they might want to convert them to VICAR or isis3 cub format , or better yer the PDS ( img & lbl ) format
http://pds.jpl.nasa.gov/

that way if you can use the software to read the data then one is , at least, mostly qualified to interpret the data

seeing as i was using it way back before it was called "seamonkey"

back then it was the nightly build of the PRE 1.0 Mozilla
then the nightly testing build of 1.0 and so on

then FF came out and Mozilla died and got relaunched as Seamonkey ( short version of story )

now if one , nowadays, WANTS a "all in one "
web browser and mail client and newsreader
it is a good choice

but
almost ALL linux distros use an individual program for all of these

so it comes down to
WHAT DO YOU WANT AND NEED

It is not all that surprising
When all is said and done, I am betting that Go Daddy's LIKE for EOL fedora versions will have had a LARGE part

Go daddy likes fedora
they are ( were now) running
Fedora 1
Fedora 2
Fedora 3
Fedora 4
Fedora 5
Fedora 6
Fedora 7
Fedora 8
servers that they have KNOWING and WILLFULLY NOT patched or upgraded

and they are having users run commerce on OS's with KNOWN HOLES
The Linux help forums are always getting questions on HELP with a 6 to 14 version out of date fedora install

Now I understand the meaning of "THE MOD SQUAD"!
