Jeremiah Cornelius's Journal: Chosen People == Master Race 8

Journal by Jeremiah Cornelius

"Greek-Melchite Archbishop Cyrille Bustros sparked an interreligious firestorm when he suggested that Israel was 'using Scripture' to continue its occupation of Palestinian territory. The Archbishop then questioned the biblical idea of a "promised land" set aside by a specific group of people.

"We Christians cannot speak of the promised land as an exclusive right for a privileged Jewish people," Bustros continued. "This promise was nullified by Christ. There is no longer a chosen people -- all men and women of all countries have become the chosen people.""

  • There was no expiry on God's covenant with Abraham, even after the Messiah's first pass.
    • Revelation speaks of a metaphysical Jerusalem, not a material physical one. The latter interpretation only arose in the last couple hundred years, with the printing of Bibles as a commonplace, and people reading - for the first time in history - visionary journey of the soul as a literal accounting of place and event.

Sad. It is the debasement of spiritual things, to say they acquire reality when identified as basically material in foundation.

      • But it also speaks of 144k Jews at the end. I'm not going to debate Revelation too vigorously, but there they are.
        • The population of Israel is a bit more than 144,000.....

          • Presumably not after a few years of Tribulation. But I think the figure refers to an adult male subset. And, again, I'm not going to delve into this in any depth at all. Sorry. Eschatology is not my burden.

The concept of throughout your generations, has that permanent sort of sound.
Sounds like I know an Archbishop who couldnt pick up choir-boys on the beach at Galilee.

  • We all make choices.

I figure that either everybody or nobody

is chosen by omnipotence or serendipity.
