"The St. Petersburg Times ran a story over the weekend about the new face of IT outsourcing at Nielsen Media Research. Rather than relocating their IT positions overseas, Nielsen's management has partnered with Tata Consultancy Services to "import" foreign workers en masse, a move that has left many of Nielsen's discarded career employees feeling unhappy (to say the least.)

"Wired.com wonders — was the Mechanical Turk search for Steve Fossett effective? As one "Turker" put it, "I don't see any downsides to it, so long as people don't pester the professional search-and-rescue teams with poor leads." Unfortunately, Maj. "An article by The Independect calls the modern United Kingdom a surveillance state. From the article: "Britain has sleepwalked into becoming a surveillance society that increasingly intrudes into our private lives and impacts on everyday activities". The levels of surveillance described in the article almost make the Patriot Act look tame by comparison..."

"My Direct Democracy, a "liberal group blog", is trying out a new campaign tactic — Google bombing. From the article: "Searching Google for 'Peter King,' the Republican congressman from Long Island, would bring up a link to a Newsday article headlined 'King Endorses Ethnic Profiling.'" Google's policy has typically been to not intervene and let the algorithms work by themselves, but could this change if Google-bombing becomes a common tactic?"
