I'm a leftist with liberal-leaning socialist politics. I believe in and promote the public good. I believe that infrastructure and education drive nations, and that having certain virtues in people and society is more important than individuals or governments "minding their own business". I'm a Unix systems geek who writes big, structured OO software in Perl, and uses C for a lot of other stuff. I'm an academe with interests in philosophy, the sciences, music, and art. I come from a very diverse family with many races and creeds - I happen to be firmly atheist. I don't eat meat, and primarily eat Indian and Mediterranean foods. I am moderately libertine, but I strongly dislike Libertarian or liberty-fundamentalist political philosophy. Liking autonomy is fine. Liking it to the exclusion of every other value is terrible.
