Drug for Infantile Spasms Price Increased By >2-> 1

Submitted by
Grym
Grym writes "Acthar Gel, the only drug used to treat Infantile Spasms (IS), as of August 25th, is now more than 20 times more expensive. Why the sudden price increase for a drug that was FDA approved 52 years ago? Was it more expensive to make? A new manufacturing process perhaps? Nope. According to the manufacturer, Questcor, at the previous price of $1,000 a vial (which only lasts two weeks), Acthar gel simply wasn't profitable enough.

Parents of children with IS are understandably outraged, as they can only hope that their insurance company covers them. If not (or if they don't even have insurance), the parents have to choose between financial ruin or watching their infant children writhe in brain-damaging convulsions. It's absolutely heartbreaking."

NIST Refutes 9/11 Conspiracy Theories

Submitted by

Grym writes "In a rather unusual and unprecedented act, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on August 30th released a FAQ debunking many of the conspiracy theories regarding the September 11th attacks. Specifically rebutted are the suggestions that the buildings were pre-loaded with explosives or part of a controlled demolition. They also addressed the use of missiles as a cause of the collapse of any of the buildings.

Such conspiracy theories have recently become common on the internet with popular amateur documentaries such as "Loose Change" or "9/11 Eyewitness" suggesting that it was, in fact, the Bush administration that perpetrated the attacks as a clandestine false-flag operation.

Perhaps this new publication will lay to rest these lingering suspicions and give credence to the common belief that Muslim extremists were responsible for the attacks. Or maybe that's what THEY want you to think..."
