First experience with computers and programming on a kit computer built from discrete components (this was in school, in 1978 or '79). First computer job was in a nerd heaven, a largish site with a VAXcluster running VMS and a CDC Cyber 180 running NOS and NOS/VE. Quickly specialized in security, both logical and physical, and had first taste of *nix in the form of Ultrix-32 on a MicroVAX II in the mid-80s. Been working with *nix ever since; Ultrix, OSF/1, Solaris, AIX, A/UX, HPUX, but from 1994 on mainly Linux and *BSD. First Linux install was Slackware from floppies. First *BSD experience was actually MacBSD (as it was called then, later NetBSD/mac68k) on a Mac II. These days extremely busy getting a Linux-based VoIP startup off the ground.
