15,000 dead, 26yr later, Execs get 2yrs prisson!

Submitted by Georgej74
Georgej74 writes "Court in India ruled 2-year prison and $2,000 fine for the then 7 executives of Union Carbide India for their role in the 1984 industrial disaster that killed 4000 in one day, another 10,000 related deaths with adverse health effects in hundreds of thousands of survivors — reports say the toxic leak had affected more than 575,000 people. Worse, the top non-Indian executives are living their life outside the country with no probability of even seeing a prison! Company paid $470million which equates to about $800 per affected person! Dow Chemical Corporation, the current Union owner of Carbide has no responsibility for the leak. Link: http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/06/07/india.bhopal.verdict/index.html?hpt=T2

Now, we have BP lined up for the same escape?"
