Sir Terry Pratchett, author of the Discworld series of novels who had early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, has died aged 66, his publishers have announced.

He passed away in his home, with his cat sleeping on his bed surrounded by his family on Thursday.

He completed his last book, a new Discworld novel, in the summer of 2014.

Larry Finlay, MD at Transworld Publishers, said in a statement: “The world has lost one of its brightest, sharpest minds.”"

Gehenna_Gehenna (207096) writes "AUTHOR TERRY PRATCHETT, who was renowned for his fantasy novels most notably the Discworld series, has died at the age of 66.
He had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for eight years.
His death was confirmed on his official Twitter page, which tweeted:
“Terry took Death’s arm and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night. ”"

It's not a concern about maniacs hitting 18,000 theaters simultaneously, its about hitting one. Even if a single theater is attacked by one moron doing a copy cat attack, the people injured could sue the living bejesus out of Sony, and an the PR spin would be even worse than it is now. Personally, I think it should be leaked to the internet, so about a billion people can see what only a few million would have seen otherwise, and then release and uncut directors version on DVD 6 months from now after all this insanity has died down.
