[NFL] NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  • he and Kellen Winslow and Jason Williams (not the killer one and not the white one... the one with the Chicago Bulls) can form a little club.

These guys... serious, do they have no sense that their bodies are their paychecks?

Does it matter? He's probably made enough that he doesn't have to work again.

Or at least he can afford to be very picky in his choice of career.

Yeah, but can he afford the caviar eating/personal foot masseuse/buy whatever he wants lifestyle he is so used to without working anymore? :-)
      • Or at least he can afford to be very picky in his choice of career.

That is, if he has the mental capacity to do so. He did just go head first into a car windshield without a helmet on.

What really gets me angry is the fact that HAD he been wearing a helmet, he probably would have walked away from the injury with a couple scratches...
  • that you're so concerned about his health... ...ish.
    • Ever since the first report, there was always the line "injuries were determined not life-threatening", so he isn't going to die, and I'm guessing that means no brain damage, so I'm concerned about his job, now ;)
      • Ah. I didn't see that in the article you linked, it just listed the surgery and serious but stable. I hope he's okay. At least he won a Supa Bow. He can tell his grandkids that. "I may be dumb as a bag of rocks and not only drove a motorcycle, but didn't wear a helmet, but I won me a Supa Bow!"
      • I suppose if his brains are scrambled, he could always be a seamless stand-in for Terry Bradshaw...

(Seriously, I hope he's ok, but what an effing dumbass. Even if's legal to go helmetless in PA, you'd think there'd be something in his contract to act as a severe disincentive to do so.)
        • Do you realize what level of brain scrambling would be involved to be a 'seamless stand-in for Terry Bradshaw'?
I mean he only went helmetless into a car windshield.
You're talking about say nose dive off of Soyuz into the Man-ung-a-heel-ah (or whatever yin call that crick out thar.)
  • He plays a sport where helmets are required to prevent brain-scrambling, yet he wasn't smart enough to wear one on a motorcycle...
  • This guy's a pansy.

He should try this: http://slashdot.org/~Em+Emalb/journal/9976 [slashdot.org]

Damn, that journal is almost 4 years old. Sheesh.
    • Wow. Thanks for posting that link. I hadn't read that entry.

As someone who has drooled over countless motorcycles, and who has seriously considered spoiling herself by getting one, I had to pause after reading your entry. You know, I had considered the dangers of inconsiderate drivers and the loose rocks that litter the highways, but I had never considered the danger posed by deer. Funny that I keep them in mind while driving my car (perhaps more so than most people), but I never considered the added
      • One of the foremost experts on same motorcycling died in a crash about two months ago. Cause: struck a deer. There really isn't much you can do about them in certain circumstances.
  • New England strikes again!

I'm hearing rumors that Tommy Maddox may be called out...

Latest reports are that he lost a good number of teeth, broke his jaw, caved in his sinus cavity, has a 9-inch laceration to the back of his head, and may have injured both knees.

  • 1. If Big Ben's so tough, why doesn't he play football without a helmet? Oh yeah, the Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty, I'll bet that's it. I say we suspend all motorcycle helmet laws nationwide for a year or so and let the gene pool clear itself out.

    2. Charlie Batch pretty much is the worst QB in the NFL. As a lifelong Lions fan, I admired his guts to stand in the pocket and take a big hit in order to make a clutch 3rd-down completion, then fumed in disgust as on the very next play, he'd bounce a pass

Hang on, there, tex... that's some big words. I mean, you have to compare him to the likes of the Kyle Bollers of the world. Not to mention all the rookies that will get hammered.
Charlie Batch WAS a good QB in Detroit. T
      • I really pulled for Batch in his Lion days, as I thought it was a great story the way he came out of Eastern Michigan, just down the road a few minutes from U-M. And while he had the confidence of a QB and had guts, his accuracy has been horrible. The example I referred to in the grandparent column was directly from one such game. Faced with 3rd and long (like 18 or so), he hung in the pocket until the final second and took a huge hit in order to make a throw that led to a first down. His next pass afte
  • I saw somebody on a motorcycle yesterday wearing short shorts and no helmet. It made me cringe. Luckily for football fans, I don't think he was an NFL quarterback.

If at first you don't succeed, you must be a programmer.
