Distributed vs. Client-Server Revision Control

Submitted by EricR86
EricR86 writes "I'm working at a small company that will soon be undertaking a large software project. The company has exclusively used CVS for all of its past projects and is now looking at other revision control systems. There seems to be a bias towards the Client-Server model with SVN being the top candidate. But I'm looking at other alternatives that follow a distributed model. However, with no experience using such a model, personally and within the company, it's hard to convincingly argue for. Which revision control model (and system) would you recommend? Specifically if you have used both models, which would you choose and why?"
