When was the last time a Rebublican read a science book? First, carbon dioxide is a heat trapping gas. It absorbs infrared and converts to kinetic energy. This is the basis of IR spectroscopy. Alternatively, read about the planet Venus. Then, burning fossil fuels will dump carbon dioxide that has been fixed by living things over the last 500 million years. That is why they are called fossil. Putting that together, things are going to warm up if we keep burning the fuel. I dont need a Phd to figure that out

For all you that are concern about cutting this program, we are confident that job-creating entrepreneurs will continue to fund this effort. Given that markets have dried here on Earth, venture capitalist will used this telescope to search for new markets in other star systems. We can help this further if we cut taxes to zero on those making $250,000 or more. Don't listen to the other side, the founding fathers never wanted the federal government to fund space programs. They clearly stated that sole purpose of the American government is to defend this nation by perpetual warfare and not promoting scientific development. Also remember, the federal budget is exactly like your home budget. If the federal government does not spend money, then we will never have a deficit and the free market will rain gold in your pockets. Thank you and God bless America.

I like Obama and support this effort but I cannot fathom this stance at all. Considering the position of the AG and Legal counsel, I think that president should seek authorization from Congress. I know that Republicans only rubber stamp wars they start and sans any reason or logic, take the opposing position on every thing Obama does. We have to see where Republican really intend to take this country. What is tier vision? Letting tyrants murdering their people, snubbing allies, cutting off grandma while giving wealthy a tax break, and accelerating the government into default. He can point all that out at election time.

Apple uses and contributes to Open Source software regularly. Many major components of Mac OS x and iOS are derived from open source. I seriously doubt that they are going to attack open source development. But, in this age of patent lawsuit, salvaging proprietary patents from defunct companies is just a part of doing business.

You know those post-recorded movies with the camera really suck. It does not replace sitting in a theater or or renting the DVD three months later. I think the cinemas problems is not the Hussleman video taping in the theater but the shitty movies Hollywood gives you to present. They may not want to discourage moviegoers any more than Hollywood has.

Denver Airport Overrun by Car-Eating Rabbits 278

It turns out the soy-based wire covering on cars built after 2002 is irresistible to rodents. Nobody knows this better than those unlucky enough to park at DIA's Pikes Peak lot. The rabbits surrounding the area have been using the lot as an all-you-can-eat wiring buffet. Looks like it's time to break out The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.

angry tapir writes "Development around the original Cell processor hasn't stalled, and IBM will continue to develop chips and supply hardware for future gaming consoles, a company executive said. IBM is working with gaming machine vendors including Nintendo and Sony, said Jai Menon, CTO of IBM's Systems and Technology Group, during an interview Thursday. 'We want to stay in the business, we intend to stay in the business,' he said. IBM confirmed in a statement that it continues to manufacture the Cell processor for use by Sony in its PlayStation 3. IBM also will continue to invest in Cell as part of its hybrid and multicore chip strategy, Menon said."
