Time Warner Cable Internet Under Attack in Los Ang
For the last three nights, my Time Warner Cable Internet connection in Los Angeles County has suddenly gotten sluggish and at times came to a full stop for the remainder of the evening. Finally fed up with the service interruption, I called Time Warner Cable last night to find out what was going on. After spending 50 minutes on hold, a customer service representative informed me that Time Warner's servers have been under attack from an unknown assailant. No news articles about this event seem to be popping up yet, but one blogger managed to acquire a written statement from Time Warner describing the attackers as zombie computers.
However, this particular series of attacks has been larger and more difficult to contain than similar attacks in the past. We suspect that the attackers are using "zombie computers," or hijacking unsuspecting subscribers' machines to perpetuate the attack without its owner's knowledge.
