its about letting homosexuals also have special rights currently reserved only to married heterosexuals

C'mon, read that statement you just wrote. Which groups sounds like it is getting special rights? When you say something is "reserved only" for some group that sounds pretty special to me. Are you saying heterosexuals should have special rights that homosexuals can't have? Which is it? Sounds like you are the one not prepared to talk on this topic to me

Yeah, same sort of experience here with the HTC EVO. Can't really complain. HTC\Sprint even released a full 2.3 version (complete with ability to remove some bloatware) although by then I was using a Synergy ROM instead as it added some of the newer Sense UI stuff. Thing is, the EVO was a top phone a year ago but is barely able to run Gingerbread with all the new Sense UI stuff now (yes, I know, I can go with CM7 to get a snappier experience but I prefer the Synergy ROM's as they are stable as hell, have good battery life with the right kernel and everything works) so I wouldn't even want HTC to continue to update it. In addition, my Sprint store has never balked at my rooted phone even when I needed my device replaced due to the MicroUSB port failing on an early revision of the phone. I'd say that is a pretty dang good experience; two updates, two new kernels, full customization possibilities, great dev community, tons of mods.

Yeah, I love how this whole discussion is now about why MySQL is so bad and if they had only chosen PostGre or Oracle or something things would've been much better when in actuality it is an article about using NewSQL instead of any other RDBMS. You are the first person to point it out. I know no one RTFA's but still

yes, excellent advice. The goodandevo.net tutorial is well thought out and straight forward. If someone follows that they'll be fine. EVO's are actually really hard to brick it turns out. Once rooted you can just leave as stock but remove the shovelware to get a feel for it or you can be daring and install a different rom with a better kernel etc. I highly recommend Myn's Warm 2.2 myself with the Netarchy kernel recommended. Battery life is twice as good as it was on the stock rom (for me at least). Once you've got root and install one of the recovery tools through Rom Manager you then can do true backups and recoveries (so nothing is lost no matter what happens) plus easy rom flashes if you want to try different roms. Anyway, I was hesitant for too long (it was my company's phone) but once I did it I can't believe I waited as it is easy and so much better

Did Apple deliberately sneak out malware update?->

Submitted by Anonymous Coward
An anonymous reader writes "This week's Mac OS X 10.6.4 operating system update included an update to Apple's "rudimentary" XProtect.plist anti-malware protection to defend against a third trojan — HellRTS — which can allow cybercriminals to gain access to infected Macs.

However, security firm Sophos who discovered the update claim that Apple did make any mention of the anti-malware update for "marketing reasons", as it would damage the company's image of being a virus-free platform.

Sophos's Graham Cluley says: 'Unfortunately, many Mac users seem oblivious to security threats which can run on their computers. And that isn't helped when Apple issues an anti-malware security update like this by stealth, rather than informing the public what it has done. You have to wonder whether their keeping quiet about an anti-malware security update like this was for marketing reasons. "Shh! Don't tell folks that we have to protect against malware on Mac OS X!"'"

before you keep yelling about Skyrocketing budget deficits you may want to see what the CBO has to say about (you know, people that actually know a little about the subject). They are saying it will save money. That should be good news to any fiscal conservative

again, what the heck does "wrong on its face" mean? It is empty rhetoric. If you want to mention specific items that you think are wrong, great. I may even agree with you. But, if you want to not read something and then dismiss it outright as just being wrong then to me you have no ground to stand on. People are losing health insurance left and right or their rates are skyrocketing. Should we just let the status quo remain? What are your ideas for fixing this serious problem? The only one I've heard from Republicans is Tort reform. Sure, sounds good. That maybe takes care of a few percentage points of the costs that are bringing the system slowly to its knees but that only will slow the catastrophe down a year or two in the long run. Any other ideas from the Republicans? From you?

The old "nobody has read" argument. Very convincing. And, BTW, rebuilding 17% of the US economy doesn't have to be a bad thing if that part of the economy is unsustainable. If private enterprise did it you'd think that was progress because they know better but if government tries to do it they are an oppressive regime. Please, go back to your inflammatory, unhelpful water cooler then. Obama may be abusing the FoIA stuff and he and congress might end up making mistakes with healthcare and each individual point should be debated but the broad accusations when I'm guessing you haven't read the bill either is not behaving any better.
