Dell to acquire iSCSI vendor EqualLogic

DanMc writes "Dell announced its plans to purchase iSCSI SAN vendor EqualLogic today. My first question was if this could be the start of an interesting coalescence between cheap iSCSI SANs, simplified and virtualized OEM supplied OS licenses on an embedded VMWare ESX 3i server, from a single source, largely preconfigured? (And all the things that come with that like snapshot backups, easy offsite disaster recovery without full clustering or tapes, hot migration of VMs between servers for maintenance windows, etc) All the pieces will be in Dell's hands to be plugged together."
