I write any notes in a TODO.txt which is always open in notepad++. The great thing is npp has SSH support so whenever I save the file it synchronises it with my webserver, and I have the textfile bookmarked on my smartphone.

This does me, of course, that I can't edit it on the run, but compared with the bloaty shit that is evernote, I much prefer it.

Judge Rules That Police Can Bar High I.Q. Scores 260

An anonymous reader writes "A Federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit by a man who was barred from the New London police force because he scored too high on an intelligence test. Judge Dorsey ruled that Mr. Jordan was not denied equal protection because the city of New London applied the same standard to everyone: anyone who scored too high was rejected." Update: 04/16 22:01 GMT by T : Mea culpa. This story slipped through; consider it a time-machine / late-April Fool's day joke, please.

Some risks we just shouldn't take? What risks? Drilling for oil? Come on, give us a break, if we didn't harvest fossil fuels civilisation would be far less advanced than we are now. I acknowledge BP messed up and oil companies are generally assholes, but don't pretend America would be better off without them.

If I lost my data I'd be furious for a month. However, if I lost the watch my parents gave me for my 21st, or the large framed picture of my friends and I laughing together in our dinner jackets at dawn, I would still look back on it sadly aged 60. Computers can now store memories like possessions used to (pictures, video), but fortunately facebook has most of them stored for me. Facebook will never be able to store the picture of our old family home in its big oak frame.
