Submitted by
CodeHog
CodeHog writes "With no explanation and just like that Lala is shutting down and directing people to iTunes. And only a brief message here. As of May 31st the web service will no longer work. At least you get to keep your downloaded versions. I hope Apple has a decent replacement for this service."

Microsoft Site Overwhelmed by Windows 7? 1

Submitted by
CodeHog
CodeHog writes "Hearing that MS was offering free downloads of the latest Windows 7 beta I decided to check in with their site and find out the rules. Was I surprised to find www.microsoft.com could not display a web page. It is also not responding to pings. Was the interest in Windows 7 so great that it brought their site to it's knees or somebody just DOSing the site?"

Sony / BMG Pirate Story

Submitted by CodeHog
CodeHog writes "The gang over at ars technica are talking about Sony / BMG's next move in the on going piracy saga. This time however they're the ones being accused of piracy. Not contented to simply install root kits on users machines it seems they have now stolen some software. However they still need to sharpen their criminal chops as the key they supplied for tech support came up as pirated. So not only are accused criminals, apparently they're not too bright about it either."
