Chacham's Journal: Coverage on Murdered Girl 8

Journal by Chacham

Just looking at Fox News Channel and MSNBC (cable news) on the Runion Girl's murder. One quick notice. Fox News is focusing on the facts, while MSNBC is focusing on how "disgusting" the crime was. I guess that just reaffirms why I watch Fox News. I've got enough opinions of my own; I don't need anyone elses.

  • I've got anough opinions of my own;

No arguement here...Fox is much more objective on a whole than MSNBC.
    • I guess you don't watch Bill O'Reilly...he's a non-stop opinion piece (despite padding his rants with "but we'll let the viewers decide" - give me a break!), plus he's been exploiting these "kidnapped little girl" stories like crazy.

      Food for thought. [cjr.org]

      • This idiot O'Reilly with his "O'Reilly Factor" aughta be called...the opinionated doofus factor.

But since Rush Limbah has lost a lot of his popularity, someone had to come in and take his place...and ONCE in a GREAT WHILE he will actually have an opinion that was formed logically and soundly instead of just off the whim of his head trying to spurn controversy.

Just wish he hadn't tainted the source of all things technical...O'Reilly Publishing...it's sad they share the same name really...

Nah, he's not a doofus. He's just more self-centered than Rush Limbaugh was a year or two ago. He is opinionated. He is conservative. Not Republican consertvative, but rather, socially conservative with a Liberatarian slant. The problem is, whenever "feelings" prove otherwise, he drops harsh logic to make decisions. Which means he's inconsistent, he uses "T" logic and "F" value-judgments based on the public outrage and what he thinks will get him ratings.

But since Rush Limbah has lost a lot of his popularity,

I am not arguing this point. I just don't know. Is there a good reliable place to see what the ratings actually are? Rush Limbaugh seems to say that his numbers are still up there.

someone had to come in and take his place...

Well, many people should. Limbaugh helped open the market for his type of show, and there's no reason only one person should be there.

and ONCE in a GREAT WHILE he will actually have an opinion that was formed logically and soundly instead of just off the whim of his head trying to spurn controversy.

          Oh yeah, like what? :-)

You're correct, I think I had heard some logic from him. But he isn't consistent, and that gets me.

Worse, he isn't polite to people. Hannity and Colmes take jabs at each other, but seem to be polite over all. O'Reilly is just this hate-filled old man with nothing better to do. Well, that's what he sounds like to me.
          • And that my friends is why Chacham is on my friends list and I read most all of his posts.

Intelligent banter, well thought out and not filled with the normal B.S.(which I'm guilty of at times).

            Damn fine rhetoric Cha.

You're right about that. O'Rielly does sound foolish. I listened to him a few times, and then just gave up. What I can't stand most is how he says, "you can have the last word", and then mumbles a final comment when the guy is done.

I would like to mention, however, that Fox bills O'Reilly as opinion, not news. Regardless of how O'Reilly talks of himself, that is not how Fox views him.

My comment is when Fox says they report news, that is usually what they do. I flip to MSNBC because they are the next channel, and they sometimes have things when Fox doesn't (because of a commercial or another story), but MSNBC is so opinionated (and biased) that I am beginning not to do that. I already won't touch CNN, and I am much happier about it.
