48 hours before the law came into force, the ICO issued new guidelines at http://www.ico.gov.uk/news/blog/2012/updated-ico-advice-guidance-e-privacy-directive-eu-cookie-law.aspx which basically reads as "If the user's browser accepts cookies, then they agree to the cookies being stored". Making the whole things pretty moot. Why they waited until the "11th hour" to state the obvious is annoying...

Me? Great deals on computers? Are you kidding? I probably live in the worst 1st world country to get anything cheap.

What I do is the following: I get my stuff in Germany, and not even in the cheapest stores because many companies do not ship to Luxembourg. Luxembourg may have a better "reputation" than Hungary for these things, so your luck is probably reduced (Well that's in Germany: when I order from the US, I usually get problems... but a few calls and a pre-paid wire transfer and I get what I want.

So, my main store is Alternate.de. As far as I know, they do not have an English site. Now do they ship to Hungary? I don't know. I have a few other stores, where I bought stuff with more or less success, but it's speciality parts. I can give you my bookmarks if you wish. Ah, very important for Alternate. The Germans like the system of paying the postman when he delivers stuff. Don't do that, it's very expensive. Use the system they call "Vorkasse": it means you pay in advance (by wire transfer, it's the only thing they accept: no credit card), and when they get the payment, they send the wares.

For the rest, I have newsletters with promotions... The i7, I bought last year? 50% off coupon because of their newsletter. Yes, I was lucky, yes I decided to spend money on something I don't need... and indeed it was probably not the smartest thing to do: I barely use it. My sister and brother use theirs though...

Mieux vaut tard que jamais!
