Grid.org distributed project shut down

Submitted by
MCW
MCW writes "The Grid.org distributed project, which ran computational chemistry programs in an effort to fight cancer, smallpox, and anthrax, among other things, has closed its doors after approximately 5 years. Their website says that "Grid.org announced it has completed its mission to demonstrate the viability and benefits of large-scale Internet-based grid computing, and will be retiring its famous efforts to support critical health research."

A message posted in the Grid.org forums to its users stated that there were various reasons why efforts to keep the project running fell through. So much for corporate philantrophy."

Interested in a Vonage Executive Interview?

Submitted by
Tim Smith
Tim Smith writes "I was just wondering if you would be interested interviewing a Vonage executive. Now that the court has granted a stay for the duration of our appeal of the Verizon patent suit we are not completely muzzled by the lawyers. As such I thought an interview with either Louis Mamakos or me, Tim Smith, might be of interest to the readers. Louie is Vonage's CTO and I am president of Vonage Network (the technical division of the company). Let me know if you are interested. You can find brief bios for both of us at http://www.vonage.com/corporate/corp_management.ph p. I am open to a traditional interview or the slashdot 10 question format, whichever you all prefer. As is unfortunately necessary due to today's regulatory environment and the overly litigious world we live in, I will need to involve the PR and Legal folks to get their blessing before an interview but wanted to gauge your interest before talking to them about doing the interview."
