Good Tablet for Lab Usage 1

Submitted by Bordgious
Bordgious writes "I work in a very busy biology lab in a national laboratory, and we are looking for a better solution for keeping track of waste streams. Currently we have a binder, but we are looking at getting a tablet that could run Excel (or something like it) so that waste entries could be put directly into a computer. We would need something rugged (that could be dropped; we have postdocs and interns), and preferably something somewhat chemical-resistant (but a screen protector could suffice). A touch screen would be best, as a pen (attached or not) is just another peripheral to be lost. Any suggestions for a rugged tablet?"

FCC probes Google, T-Mobile for double-whammy fees->

Submitted by Julie188
Julie188 writes "On Monday, the FCC asked Google, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon to explain how they tell their customers about early wireless contract termination fees. Notice that Google is the only handset retailer in the bunch. That's because if someone buys a Nexus One phone from Google with a two-year T-Mobile contract, and the user wants out of that contract, the user is expected to pay two "early termination fees." One fee would be charged by Google and a second charged by T-Mobile."

3 Millimeter Camera Goes Inside Your Body->

Submitted by kkleiner
kkleiner writes "The newest camera from BC Tech is only 3 mm in diameter, and thank goodness, because it’s going inside your body. Called the Video Scout, the tiny camera comes with four LED lights for interior illumination, a choice of lenses capable of 100 to 140 field of view, and a depth of field from 1mm to infinity. Video Scout is even smaller than many camera pills (often around 10mm or more). According to BC Tech, the Scout is even cheap enough for single use equipment."

I have a Magellan RoadMate 800 which runs a stripped-down version of Windows CE. With just a button-press combination you can view a full windows desktop environment with touchscreen behind it and run whatever programme you want. It's super easy as it has an SD slot and 20-40GB of internal memory to do just about whatever you want with it.
