And today, we can preserve freedom in the world and support the fight for Democracy in the Middle East and an end to terrorism. All without risking our lives or firing a shot.

Vote today. And vote for Bush.

Well, I wrote a letter, and got a response:

Dear Mr. Dickson:

I have received and reviewed your letter dated October 13, 2004 concerning your observation of Enviromental License Plates, which contain the letters "FDUBYA", which you consider not appropriate for California license plates.

On occasion, the department approves a plate configuration because all meanings of the configuration are not known. The California Vehicle Code, Section 5105(a) states we must refuse any license plate configuration which carries connotations offensive to good taste and decency, or which may be misleading to some of our citizens. In this particular instance, because of your notification to our office, we are exercising our right to request the surrender of the license plates.

I hope you can appreciate how difficult it is to balance an individual's constitutional rights to free speech and expression while protecting the sensibilities of all segments of our population.

Well, I've finished the vacation, and it is back to the grind.

Spent some nice time in Seattle, and then went to Pennsylvania for Michael Mathie's wedding.

All in all a pretty nice trip.

Powerbooks are very nice.

Unfortunately the airline bumped it, but as it is near the battery it just keeps working fine.

I really like the software; the underlying Unix makes it quite easy to work with.

It has happened. I've purchased a p-p-p-p-p-owerbook. Should be pretty nice, I think. And I guess I'll have to learn how to be a zealot!

But it shouldn't be too hard.... :)
