Also, You were not using outlook in 1993. It didn't exist back then. The first versions came out around 96 or so. It was only bundled with the rest of office in Office 97, before that it came with MS Exchange.

However, it is not. Even the marquee feature of the the "facebook home launcher" is available on other phones. There is nothing the phone can do that others can not.

I think they are trying to emphasis that the thieves only needed to fool the machines with a card that could easily be detected by the average joe as fake. Its pretty obvious fact. Its stupid news reporting. Local news does it all the time: " Woman who died choking on hot dog did not expect to die watching a baseball game, in fact none of us do either!"

I don't know, I bought a legal OEM version of windows 8 Home Pro for under a hundred. That's cheaper than I could have found for windows 98 ( which was the last version I bought before activation). I think I got windows XP PRO OEM for just over a hundred from a shady website.

I think the price decrease ( if there has been one) is more of a sign of increased competition from Macs ( and linux to a certain extent), than the activation reducing piracy.

Postges seemed positioned to be an oracle replacement, while Mysql always seemed to be Web OLTP focused. I haven't seen a real useful comparison in years. So much has changed performance wise in Mysql, that it would be worth another look. One of the new features which really speeds up Mysql under heavy load is the thread pool, which isn't available in the free version oracle gives out. I think Maria DB has an alternative written by the same guy who now works for Maria.

Despite all of the Postgres users saying its much better, I'm not aware of any large websites using it as a backend at scale.
