Mozilla forcing Debian to rename Firefox

Submitted by
Beuno
Beuno writes "It seems the Mozilla Foundation is forcing Debian to stop using the brand "Firefox" unless Debian complies with the policy that requires Mozilla to approve every single change that is done to the source code.
Red Hat and Novell seem to go through this process, but is seems impossible for Debian.
Are they taking things to far or is this a correct move for the Mozilla Foundation?"

Fully upgradeable Laptops

Submitted by
Beuno
Beuno writes "I jumped on the laptop wagon a couple of years ago and never looked back. There is too many advantages of having my PC with me wherever I go, but there is one thing I do miss of having a regular desktop: upgrading it constantly. I used to upgrade my video card, hard drive, RAM and CPU pretty frequently, and now I have to throw away my current laptop and buy a new one if I want to have a newer/different video card. Leaving out the fact that you can upgrade your HD and RAM, I would like to know if the slashdot crowd thinks we'll ever have the same flexibility with laptops."

Free Linux Discs Fundraiser

Beuno writes "From the webpage: The project is currently facing a production capacity problem. We just can't keep up with demand. We can currently produce 60-100 requests a day. Our contributors have been producing an average of 5 requests a day. We have 20,000 requests to fill. That means it will take 307 days to produce these requests. That's a long time, too long. We need to find a way to pump out the requests at much faster pace. The story already went through Digg but they're not even half way there. Maybe the slashdot croud can help them reach their goal. Donate here."
