I came across this the other day - List of additives in cigarettes
"One significant issue is that while all these chemical compounds have been approved as additives to food, they were not tested by burning. Burning changes the properties of chemicals. More than 4,000 chemical compounds are created by burning a cigarette."
On the guy's blog about the McDonalds incident, he says "The eyeglass is permanently attached and does not come off my skull without special tools.", but that's the closest thing I've been able to find. Somewhere, I read that it just has electrodes stuck to his head like an ECG. Hardly implants.
As for his "severe vision problem", he says in that same post that he carries around a letter from his doctor, but never mentions a vision disorder.
Instead of calling it a bug, I'd just call it an easter egg.
How are cameras in public places going to stop bombs? Sure it may help in catching criminals, but the damage has already been done. Maybe we should require background checks on people purchasing black duffel bags?
The NYPD is touting its use of the so-called smart cameras that have been used for nearly a decade in Lower Manhattan to identify potential threats such as unattended bags left for too long.
And only one 3.4 oz bottle of water per runner
It's from the Infocom game Leather Goddesses of Phobos.. That was as far as I got in the game because I couldn't figure it out. Pretty frustrating as I was a 15 year old male and giving the correct answer meant you got to bang the king's daughter or something. If you got it wrong, you died.
The solution was to type: say "riddle"
I may have had the right answer, but I wasn't typing "say" in front of it.
Some say I'm pointless,
yet many are obsessed by me.
I have caused heroic gambles
and sown endless frustration.
Uncounted deaths have I caused.
What am I?"
I should have made it more clear that I kidding about the 120 psi (sort of) I do use an air compressor, but at a distance where it's not going to damage anything.
You're right about the bearings.. When I was 19, this was drilled into my head when I was in school to be an aircraft mechanic. All the instructors were adamant about not spinning things with the air compressors when drying off parts. Of course, kids would do it anyway, and occasionally get kicked out of class for the day.
I don't actually do that.. I was kidding. It would also be bad for the fan bushings or bearings. I'm curious now though.. I'm going to hook one up to a scope and see what comes out of it. I think it would generate AC because of the lack of a commutator
Once I grabbed a carton of cream from the fridge, and when I went to pour it, nothing came out. It was completely solidified. I was confused because it was still 2 weeks before the expiration date. Of course, they don't include the year in the exp. date.. I just happened to grab it about one year after I bought it.
Canned air? I use 120 psi from an air compressor. I wonder if the fan is rated for 10,000 rpm.
And if you're blowing air into a vent without taking the device apart, all you're really doing is distributing the dust evenly inside the case.. and you're not going to get at everything.
Has anyone seen mutations arise that weren't in the gene pool of an organism and seen the mutated form "take over" a population because the mutation conferred a survival advantage
I saw a documentary recently that said there are nurse sharks near the bikini atoll that are believed to have developed a mutation (missing second dorsal fin) due to exposure to radiation from nuclear testing in the late 40's, early 50's. Normally that type of mutation only affects one or two generations, but the mutation has persisted to this day. I don't think anyone has theorized an advantage yet. They didn't detect any abnormal radiation levels in the water at this time.
That said, if people only own guns to make their penis feel bigger then why do women own them?
I'm not sure if you understand what "lossy" means.. it doesn't have anything to do with degradation of the medium. Maybe I'm missing your point.
As for monster cables, the difference in sound quality is negligible at best, but with lossless vs lossy (mp3 vs CD) there's a huge difference in sound quality. A lot of people have grown up listening to mp3s or have been listening to them for years, and they don't even know what a really good recording sounds like. But as many have said.. they don't care. I can appreciate a decent sound system, but I know that many people just don't.
Here's a reason to never buy monster cables -
And if you think monster cables are overpriced, there are companies that try to sell speaker cables for $25,000. - Presumably for people that like to tell other people how much they paid for them, then convince themselves they can hear the difference
