An anonymous reader writes: Makezine is running a quick blurb about a new toolkit for synthetic biology, covering elementary DNA extraction to oligonucleotide synthesis and the major bioinformatics databases on the web. Research in the news, now on a daily basis, references genetic engineering and innovative technologies that, unfortunately, end up as vaporware in the public eye. But with the increasing diversification of the open source biology, the situation can change for the better.
