+ - Call to curtail Abuse of UK Surveillance-> 2

Submitted by BananaPeel
BananaPeel writes: Under Terroism laws local councils in the UK have, for some time, had powers to wiretap and spy on citizens without the need to refer to the courts. The inevitable abuse of the system has led to calls for these powers to be curbed. The BBC has picked up on the issue and details how people have been spied on, followed and had had their privacy invaded simply for being suspected of not sorting their rubbish into the right bins. The use of invasive surveillance to enforce trivial laws shows the extent of government interference into the minutiae of everyday life in the UK.
