Why Intel leads the world in semiconductor manufacturing->

Submitted by
MrSeb
MrSeb writes "When Intel launched Ivy Bridge last week, it didn’t just release a new CPU — it set a new record. By launching 22nm parts at a time when its competitors (TSMC and GlobalFoundries) are still ramping their own 32/28nm designs, Intel gave notice that it’s now running a full process node ahead of the rest of the semiconductor industry. That’s an unprecedented gap and a fairly recent development; the company only began pulling away from the rest of the industry in 2006, when it launched 65nm. But how has Intel managed to pull so far ahead? Joel Hruska of ExtremeTech talks to Mark Bohr, Senior Intel Fellow and the Director of Process Architecture and Integration to find out some of Chipzilla's tips and tricks."

Not I, nor astronaut Don Pettit who invented a reasonable space-cup for drinking coffee (or other suitably similar liquids)."

Ballmer Ordered To Testify In 'Vista Capable' Case 235

alphadogg writes "A federal judge in Seattle has ordered Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to testify in a class action lawsuit against Microsoft that alleges the company misled consumers in a marketing campaign for its Windows Vista operating system in which computers sold with an older Microsoft OS were labeled 'Vista Capable' when in fact they could only run a basic version of Vista. Ballmer has unique personal knowledge of facts surrounding the case, therefore he must face questioning, Judge Marsha Pechman of the US District Court for the Western District of Washington at Seattle ruled, according to court documents released late Friday."

Depends, if you have a masters (or even BS) from Stanford in EE or CS with a very good GPA then I bow down before your study skills.
But I note how you don't bow to technological ability, or ability to independantly grasp concepts. I have met MSCS in my time who can't code their way out of a paper bag. Persistance is not a suitable replacement for cognative ability.
It's funny. Laugh.

Journal: George W. Bush determined to be a "Miserable Failure"

Journal by Aviancer
Looks like Google's PageRank system is hard at work again. So many webpages exist with the keywords "miserable failure" in them which link to George W's Bio on whitehouse.gov that a Google search for Miserable Failure lists Georgie's Bio number one, even though those keywords don't exist on that page! This very well could be the first documented case of a "Distributed Easter Egg". Props to Robo
