Maryland Attorney General Upholds Right to Video T->

Submitted by ApolloX
ApolloX writes "Following up a story Slashdot previously covered, Maryland attorney general has announced that state police were wrong to charge Anthony Graber with a felony for recording his traffic stop, since a police stop is not considered a private conversation and therefore not covered by the state wiretap law. Slashdot readers may recall, Anthony Graber was arrested at gunpoint during a traffic stop while riding his motorcycle. Weeks later he was charged with felony wiretaping for video recording the traffic stop, after it was posted online. Despite the ruling by the attorney general, Maryland State Police have yet to drop charges against Graber."

Review of Flash Builder 4 - Defective By Design?->

Submitted by ApolloX
ApolloX writes "Adobe has released its new version of the Flex Builder, now renamed Flash Builder 4. This version is radically different from previous versions of Flex, introducing the new Spark architecture and theme support. While I a(TM)m pleased Adobe has finally added support for Eclipse 3.5, I am disappointed with some of the new architecture changes that make doing simple things, such as skinning a button, now quite cumbersome."

Push Gmail for iPhone and Windows Mobile-> 1

Submitted by
Selikoff
Selikoff writes "Google has expanded service to now include push Gmail for iPhone and Windows Mobile, previously only supporting limited Exchange services such as Calendar. It seems Google didn't work directly with Apple on this subject, instead choosing to leverage the existing Exchange protocol previously available within the iPhone. From the article "Google rolled out an upgrade to Google Sync which now provides the ability for Gmail messages to be pushed to mobile devices rather than pulled. That means that e-mail messages sent to Gmail accounts will be received immediately on mobile devices rather than having to be summoned at 15 or 30 minute intervals by the device.""

Time Warner to lose MTV, Comedy Central, and More-> 1

Submitted by
Selikoff
Selikoff writes "Viacom has started flooding airwaves (in the form of a scrolling banner on certain channels) announcing Time Warner customers will lose a number of channels at midnight tonight including: Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Noggin, Nicktoons, Spike, VH1, TV Land, and more. The banner encourages customers to call Time Warner to complain and even provides a support number. Apparently, the issue stems from Viacom raising rates as much as 22 and 36 percent per channel. Funny, they didn't post a customer support number to call Viacom in the scrolling banner, but according to their website its (212) 258-6000. Read more about it at: here and here."

T-Mobile agent encourages iPhone on their network

Submitted by ApolloX
ApolloX writes "Earlier today I called T-Mobile to find out how much time I have left on my contract before I can cancel it and get an iPhone with AT&T. To my surprise, the support agent told me I could get an iPhone and use it on their network, using such reassuring terminology as "I've seen it done" and "you can just reuse your SIM card". I brought up the obvious objections such as "It's sort of illegal" and "It involves hacking the iPhone", to which she responded I should contact AT&T for assistance about unlocking the phone. At this point I could barely contain my laughter.

I'm sure in the last year many people have called T-Mobile (and every other carrier) asking to cancel because of the iPhone, but honestly, telling people they can use an iPhone on their network is just ridiculous... unless of course T-Mobile plans to support helping people unlock their iPhone?"

Voyager 2 finds solar system's shape is 'dented'->

Submitted by
Selikoff
Selikoff writes "NASA's Voyager 2 spacecraft has found that our solar system is not round but is "dented" by the local interstellar magnetic field of deep space, space experts said on Monday. The data was gathered by the craft on its 30-year journey into the edge of the solar system when it crossed into a sweeping region called the termination shock, they said. It showed that the southern hemisphere of the solar system's heliosphere is being pushed in or "dented." Voyager 2 is the second spacecraft to enter this region of the solar system behind Voyager 1, which entered the northern region of the heliosheath in December 2004."
