Another illogical phenomenon I've seen is managers flat out stating that none of their employees should earn more than they do (indeed such a scenario is ludicrous). As if middle managing is always a harder to fill role than some ace technical person with a much-sought after skill set.

And I say that as someone who recently joined management.

An anonymous reader writes "Deric Lostutter, the 26-year-old “hacktivist” who leaked the evidence that led to the conviction of two of the Steubenville, Ohio rapists is now facing more time behind bars than the rapists he exposed. The Steubenville Rape Case made national headlines when a video made by the rapists themselves, and their friends, proved that their victim was unconscious and unable to consent."

Apocryphos (1222870) writes "An "interview" with NSA director Keith Alexander was published in October 2013. Since then it has been blasted as propaganda with some news sites like RT running stories about it being the "most hated" video with 17k+ dislikes. One commenter puts it this way: "Yo dog, I heard from RT that you have the most hated video of 2013. So I gave your video a thumbs down so that you know how much you're a scumbag fascist, while you scumbag fascist it up."

Perhaps popular outrage is more prevalent than we have been led to believe. Or perhaps Russia spammed hate on the video so they could run a story..."

Apocryphos (1222870) writes "Guy Adams, a writer for the UK’s Independent, had his Twitter account suspended while criticizing NBC’s coverage of the 2012 London Olympics. The ban was quickly executed at the broadcaster's request....
Twitter suspended Adams’ account on Tuesday for “posting an individual's private information such as private email address," though Zenkel’s email address was a publicly available corporate address. A spokesperson for NBC claimed they were alerted to the posting by Twitter itself, who advised the company on how to file a complaint against Adams, according to the UK's Daily Telegraph."

Except if I consume a lot of soda but am perfectly healthy and not overweight I'm going to get taxed.

Smoking increases your risk of cancer and other diseases which makes sense to tax. Simply drinking soda... does it really mean I'm going to wake up one day and be fat?

This is really about taxing something because it is being abused, not because it is inherently dangerous.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but the fact is that synergies did make more skills useful that weren't before. Your idea to redo "useless" skills is a shitload more work, and I'd definitely take synergies over no change at all. BTW - Grim Ward is useful, for example, I use it to kill enemy groups faster because it lets my barbarian focus fire better.
The real issue is that a lot of the difficulty of the game was destroyed online by bots. It was too easy to get good equipment and fast experience, which I say because you think the high end sets are jokes.
The immortal king set is really good. You can pretty much not be stopped when wearing it, and it's possible to do /players8 hell solo with it, as long as you are careful.
I mainly played d2 on LAN with people I know, enforcing a no-cheating atmosphere via peer-pressure, and I wish they would just make more expansions for d2 instead of an entirely new game.
