Anonymous Squonk writes "The measurement of the sun currently in use was actually calculated over 120 years ago, and is off by hundreds of kilometers. Thousands of ordinary Japanese citizens worked together to improve this estimate. By measuring the borders of the "ring of fire" effect of the recent eclipse, and using the known size and distance from the Earth of the sun, the radius of the Sun was measured as 696,010 kilometers, with a margin of error of only 20 kilometers."

That's people's answer to everything these days.

Me: "I'm constantly tired and irritable. What should I do to help?"

Society: "Get more exercise, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, and sleep eight hours a night."

Me: "I constantly have the urge to stab my girlfriend in the face, and I see clowns in the toilet whenever I pee. What should I do?"

Society: "Get more exercise, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, and sleep eight hours a night." /me solves all problems evar

Meant to mark Insightful. Accidentally marked troll.

That's an odd mistake to make. You sure you're getting enough sleep?

Dr. Alan Hirsch, Director of Chicago's Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Center, says the key to a man's heart, and other parts, is pumpkin pie. Out of the 40 odors tested in Hirsch's study, a mixture of lavender and pumpkin pie got the biggest rise out of men ages 18 to 64. That particular fragrance was found to increase penile blood flow by an average of 40%. "Maybe the odors acted to reduce anxiety. By reducing anxiety, it acted to remove inhibitions," said Hirsch.

jerryjamesstone writes "Everybody is into rail these days; it is the greenest way to get around next to a bike. Leonid Mulyanchik has been into it for years since before the Berlin Wall fell, since before the first Macintosh, building his own private underground Metro railway system. English-Russia says that he has been doing it with his pension, that it is all legal and approved and that he is still at it. Gizmodo calls it 'Partly the traditional, inspiring, one man against all odds type of persistence, but more the obsessive, borderline insane persistence.'" If you had better tools, you could more effectively demonstrate your total incompetence.
