+ - Enabling DirectX 10 features on the XP Crysis demo

Dr. Eggman writes: Ars Technica brings us news of a trivial mod to the Crysis Demo to enable DirectX 10 features on Windows XP. While the system does still use the DirectX 9 render path, it seems arguing that Vista gaming has features XP doesn't is a bit hollow. Actual details on modifying the config files can be found here.

An anonymous reader writes: Billionaire Mukesh Ambani today became the richest person in the world, surpassing American software czar Bill Gates, Mexican business tycoon Carlos Slim Helu and famous investment guru Warren Buffett, courtesy the bull run in the stock market.

Following a strong share price rally on in his three group companies, India's most valued firm Reliance Industries, Reliance Petroleum and Reliance Industrial Infrastructure, the net worth of Mukesh Ambani rose to $63.2 billion (Rs 2,49,108 crore).

+ - Oink music sharing servers raided, Admin arrested

An anonymous reader writes: "The servers of OiNK.cd — one of the most popular private BitTorrent trackers — are raided and the admin, a 24-year-old man from Middlesbrough, is arrested." Oink is known for being a popular music sharing group. This shows why being popular is not always a good thing. http://torrentfreak.com/oinkcd-servers-raided-admin-arrested/

+ - Google pulls a Microsoft with new Google OS->

Technical Writing Geek writes: "Google runs into a team of coders who have developed some sort of hybrid Linux-Windows-VM-BSD mashup OS. The results are interesting, and kind of work. A lot of people do not know that at any given time, numerous workable operating systems are being developed, many with great potential. None of them can get traction, though. If they rise above the common-noise level, they get crushed by Microsoft rather quickly. But none have worked freely under the umbrella of a troublemaker corporate entity such as Google, either. What we are witnessing is the potential for a unique switcheroo.

+ - Sony Announced Second Gen Blu-ray Burner->

AlphaDrake writes: "Sony announced today a new updated internal Blu-ray burner for PC. The new drive doubles the write speed as compared to previous Blu-ray BD-R burners inside computer systems. The new BWU-200S Blu-ray burner cuts burn time in half allowing a full 50Gb BD-R disc to be burned in about 45 minutes. Previous drives were 2x drives and the burn time was around 90 minutes for a BD-R disc. In addition to burning BD-R discs, the drive can also burn DVD+/-R discs at 16x, DVD DL burning is supported as well. Software is included with the burner that allows for the capture, authoring, editing, burning and viewing of high-definition content captured in HDV 1080i format from HDV camcorders."

+ - New Metal Gear Solid 4 Trailer

Adam Eliason writes: "This one literally just came in — Konami has released a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4 and PlayFrance has the scoop. The trailer is similar to the E3 one released last year, but has a ton of additional content and has been remastered using the newest version of the MGS 4 engine, leading to a ton of little visual improvements. Animations, particle effects and over-all graphic fidelity have all definitely increased with this newest trailer — the scene where Old Snake puts the gun to his mouth, in particular, showcases some incredible lighting effects. It's great to see Konami hasn't been resting on their laurels, this new trailer shows a clear and marked improvement to a game that already looked amazing. The trailer ends with confirmation that the game will be coming out in 2007"
