This is probably why 'they' would want it banned

"They" don't want it banned. The people pushing the ban are some fringe NGOs, not people with actual power. "They" (the people with power) are developing killer-bots are quickly as they can.

Even if a ban was a good idea in principle (I am not sure it is), I don't see how it could possibly be enforced. Building a killer droid doesn't require any special technology that non-killer droids don't also use.

someone please explain to me what i am missing

What you are missing is that there are many big powerful organizations that DO NOT WANT phone=bankcard. They want your phone to bypass the Visa/Mastercard duopoly, that adds ~3% to to everything you buy. The problem is that they haven't come up with a good alternative.

The correct ordering is:

1) Cash: 15 seconds or less
2) Credit/debit card: 45 seconds or more

Most of my transactions are at self-checkout kiosks for either groceries or gas. Swiping a card is much faster than fumbling with cash. If the transaction is under $50, the kiosk doesn't even ask for a signature, it is just swipe and go.

While that is absolutely true, the population of CA is still far better off than they would be without the reservoirs - they would have had to move (or die) 2 years ago. The fact is that they will pump water where they need to and it will get expensive, and maybe make certain types of agriculture uneconomical. But we'll defeat mother nature's attempt to kill us.

There's a difference between physical danger and social effects.

It is important to note that this study ONLY looks at the physical danger of the drug itself. I don't think it surprises even the most ardent opponent of weed that people very, very rarely die from THC overdose. That is NOT the reason they oppose it. The only meaningful comparison is when you include the "social effects", such as deaths from intoxicated driving, and also the economic cost of alcoholism, apathetic potheads, etc. But the argument that "weed is not as bad as alcohol" really isn't a convincing argument for legalization. Instead you need to compare the costs and benefits of legalized dope, with the costs and benefits of dope prohibition. I think that Colorado and Washington make a pretty clear case for legalization.

"Follow the money" is indeed a good strategy. I recommend you apply that philosophy equally to those who have made careers out of denying AGW. It also shouldn't take too much time to realize that we are probably 20 years into something of a consensus on AGW within the scientific community, and "the government" has changed hands between the Democrats and Republicans a few times since then. If there was political influence, you would expect some wavering amongst the scientific community - and yet there has been none.

Turns out that the Slashdot predictions in the 90s about taking over the world pretty much came to pass. The obscure project Linux is now known by everyone, and Linux is pretty much everywhere now for good or bad. Maybe not on the desktop, which is an every shrinking small part of the overall picture. Linux dominates the mobile world, pretty much swept clean the super computing world and the cloud computing landscape, and is still a huge player in the server world. It's not work for free either. Linux development is mostly done by full-time paid employees of quite a few companies that depend on Linux, and make serious money from it. So Linux really has been wildly successful, and makes people working on it a lot of money, and we all benefit. Pretty amazing picture.

So you are asserting that all of the climate scientists are bad at their jobs, and if only some smart people would step up and build some proper models, we'd see just how wrong they are. Interesting. If only there were some smart people who wanted to look into climate science...

I suppose the first thing to ask is "What can go wrong?"

Answer: Not much. Volcanoes already do this, so it is not something unprecedented. If we change our mind, we can stop spraying the aerosols, and everything will return to normal in a few months.

Our planet maintains a balance so far

Well, the whole point of AGW is that we are already out of balance.

I don't really like the aerosol idea. It doesn't actually remove any CO2, so things like ocean acidification will continue to get worse. If we are going to do geo-engineering, then iron fertilization of the oceans seems like a much better idea. That removes the CO2, and boosts fishing yields. But we should be doing lots of research on ALL feasible solutions.
