arhhook writes: "An executive with South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. will plead guilty, serve 10 months in prison and pay a $250,000 fine for conspiring to fix prices of computer memory chips, the U.S. Justice Department said on Thursday. Young Hwan Park participated in the conspiracy while he was a vice president of sales at Samsung, the world's top memory chip maker, the department said. Park is currently president of Samsung Semiconductor Inc., the company's U.S.-based subsidiary. Park also has agreed to assist the Justice Department in its ongoing investigation, which focuses on dynamic random access memory, or DRAM chips, the kind found in all personal computers."

arhhook writes: "So, I bought a Motorola L6 off E-Bay. This L6 worked great for about a month, and then refused to turn on completely. I called customer service for Motorola and asked about the warranty information. They said to send it in, and gave me the address. I sent the phone in, and got it back a few weeks later stating that the problem could not be fixed in the United States because the phone was manufactured overseas, and we did "not have the technology" to fix the phone here in the States. They told me to contact the Motorola in the country where it was manufactured in. According to Motorola's web site , the phone number for Singapore's customer service is a 1-800 number, and I figured this would be good to try to save my phone bill from calling overseas. I called the number and was greeted by an advertisement for a phone-sex hotline, and after the recording played, number hung up. I checked the number multiple times to try to figure out if I dialed wrong and that the number matched the Motorola Site, and it did. I'm not sure how often these things happen, but I wasn't too thrilled about that, I just want my phone fixed. To further anger me, a Motorola rep. tried to direct me where to go to get the real number, and it turns out to be the same site I got it from. According to them, my next task is to try to call the UK and see what they can do. Has anybody run into anything similar with Motorola or other companies?"

Submission + - "New" Windows Live Messenger Virus

arhhook writes: "There is a 'new' virus going around on Windows Live Messenger. The old one worked pretty much the same way as this one. It will send a link saying "Hey! Is this you". The link will then prompt windows users to download an executible, and procedes to install itself and distrobute to your contacts. It is running rampant on my University Campus right now. Be careful what you click on."
