if someone from the open source community would step forward to do the work to drive the feature to completion.

Google/Chromium paid devs can then take all the credit. One sided deal if you ask me.

This is a sad response to read on slashdot.

What do you think would be a good reason for a company to opensource their development if not for stuff like this? It fits perfectly in the matra "If i had the source, I could make it work the way I wanted."

I would suggest that you forego root exploits altogether. Instead, you should simply refuse to buy any Android device where the manufacturer does not provide you a means to unlock the bootloader. Once you have a (legit) unlocked bootloader using official tools from the manufacturer, you can then proceed to install any ROM you want -- even an open source ROM that you could audit yourself -- which then gives you root access. >

I didn't really get this until I got my tmobile S5. Not only is an unlocked bootloader safer, it's much easier to play with and you don't have to worry that someday you will have to decide if you want to risk upgrading and losing your unlocker bookloader (freedom.)
I started with an EVO 4G. I updated it when I first got it like I do with OS's for computers. I ended up with a locked bootloader and couldn't do any of the cool stuff I had wanted the phone for. Sure months later a new exploit was found but it was a lesson learned.

Not on lolipop :)

That said, I have yet to have an android phone (or device) that I have not rooted. I love adaway way to much to live without it (and titanium backup is a great tool.) I actually prefer CM or AOSP based roms now but mileage varies depending on the device.

Are you kidding?
The democrat leaders (Reid, Poliski, etc) have accused the republicans of poisoning the air, stealing social security from grandmas, wanting the poor to starve, starting a "war on women", etc.

You are not understanding that not all seats were ups for vote. That 20 million number is not as relevant as you think it is.

I could have 100% people vote for party "Jackie" for 2014 in California. This would not allow me to win in Texas if no seats were open during this election period.

Also, not all votes are equal.

Each state has 2 senators. If Rhode Island voted 100% Republican and California voted 100% Democrat, you could say that Democrats carried more than twice the number of votes than republicans but only received half the seats. While factually true, it is misleading.

You are holding on to something that both parties pushed and blaming only one party.

In addition, you are holding on to old shit that should have been corrected by now.

I can say that Clinton and the democrats gave us the DMCA but that doesn't excuse Bush or Obama or the congresses during their times for keeping it.

In fact, Bush was fairly transparent about where he stood on the NSA. Obama and the of liberals flat out lie on it and you give them cover when you keep going back so far (when 6 out of 10 of those years had a Democrat president.)

And being cute with caps doesn't help your case. It just looks juvenile. I'm sure you also type Faux News feeling clever.
