I rather like their DragonFly USB DAC/amp. Granted, I didn't pay anywhere near $250+ for it, but for the ~$75 I got it for, it's nice, sounds good and is portable. My other choices for use with my work provided laptop were the usual Schiit stack and Monoprice desktop amp (11567), but the DragonFly won out on simplicity.

The problem with a ~3 year Windows release cycle is that a lot of commercial / FOSS programs can take 1-2 years to stabilize on the new platform (eg. properly supporting new video renderer, 3rd party backup/imaging programs, etc.)

Run wdidle3 or idle3tools and set the park time to 300 seconds. Problem solved. Do NOT set it to disabled with the latest generation Reds / Greens - they do not like it in the least and you WILL get funny noises from the drive.
