An observational study of US public restroom habits out today says one-third of men don't wash hands in public restrooms while 88% of women do lather up. A follow up telephone survey of 1,001 adults ages 18 and over found that both lie about the activity though men fail more there too: 92% of adults say they wash their hands in public restrooms. The story is perhaps a little more disconcerting when you realize that almost one in five small business managers read work-related e-mails and other documents in the bathroom, presumably at work according to another study. http://www.networkworld.com/community/node/19658"

Submission + - Phising Scheme uses Hacked page on eBay's servers

An anonymous reader writes: It appears a new Phishing scheme doesn't use email, but eBay's own web servers. A poster on dpreview.com found the hack and reported it. But just a few hours after eBay reomved the hacked page, it has returned. The page hidden on eBay's servers when accessed using a valid eBay server address quickly redirects the user to a fake eBay login page to steal account passwords. The hacker then puts the address in public questions to sellers, when people paste or type the URL into their address bar it takes them to the fake login. eldavojohn writes: "A meteorite struck in Peru on Saturday leaving cinders, rock & water boiling out of the ground. Villagers nearby reported headaches & vomiting and attributed it to the event. From the article, "Seven policemen who went to check on the reports also became ill and had to be given oxygen before being hospitalized, Lopez said. Rescue teams and experts were dispatched to the scene, where the meteorite left a 100-foot-wide (30-meter-wide) and 20-foot-deep (six-meter-deep) crater, said local official Marco Limache." It's not yet clear whether this is from the meteorite, gas trapped underground that was released or a chemical reaction between the two."

University of Florida Student Tasered At Political Rally 1819

An anonymous reader writes "During a political rally at the University of Florida, an annoying student was tasered while attempting to ask Senator Kerry (D-MA) some questions regarding the 2004 election. Police are looking into whether excessive force was used to prevent the student from going over his alloted question period." There are also several YouTube videos available of the incident.
