8 years is a dreadfully short time to 'prove' an economic method. For all you know what is happening right now is a direct result of Reagan era policies, so I am going to call bullshit on that, but if you can actually provide some reasonable backup for your opinion then maybe you can change my mind!

I am not going to pretend that there isn't bad regulation (goddamn there is tons of it), and it should be gotten rid of, but people who say that all regulation is bad regulation are just crazies. Should we take out anti-trust legislation? Was it smart of us to remove the investment bank regulation? What about safety regulation? What about anti-discrimination legislation?

There are 'fetters to productivity' and there is 'good legislation' but to say that all legislation that fetters productivity cannot be good is wrong.

You would run into a situation where the rich can send their kids to better schools, and they get better jobs, and then they make more money, and send their kids to better schools, who make more money. Later on you run into a situation where poor people won't be able to afford school. Two more or less permanent classes. The death of the American dream.

I don't think the government does limit the number of ISP's. I think the free market does. As long as ISP's keep their prices under the cost of implementation of new infrastructure there will never be any competition.

This is a fantasy. In reality we would end up with 1 really cheap ISP who puts the others out of business, at which point they would either buy out or purchase the equipment from the other companies. The new monopoly would languor just as much as they currently do and could charge as much as they want for their service.

I agree there is too much socialism in some cases, but it is usually a failure of implementation or corruption manifesting itself. I should be able to take the money for my education and apply it to any school. But to take away public education and turn it completely over to the private sector is not only ludicrous, its downright evil.

I know what the car commercial is trying to sell me. I have no idea what the linux commercial is trying to sell me. I don't even know what they are competing with. I know nothing except linux is freedom. Freedom from what? If its freedom from windows "boundaries," well... I don't know what to say. The technical knowledge required to make changes beyond what is already capable in windows would pretty much ensure that anyone capable of doing them already knows linux. Linux has selling points. It is no upfront cost It's configurability is only limited by the users skill There is a lot of free software for it It generally gets the job done More secure This ad addresses one of those slightly.

What a horrible commercial. It doesn't remotely state what linux is. All it says is linux is freedom. I do not feel un-free, so why do I need to find out what linux is? All this commercial is, is linux elitist masturbation, it does nothing for anyone who doesn't already know what linux is, and doesn't really do anything for windows users.

To be fair a large part of our countries rich SHOULD be in prison, especially in the financial and banking centers. The things they do are pretty much criminal.

I don't think anyone really considers mittens to be the premier spy, and the bob director contacted goons, goons did not contact them. To pretend this is anything but the greatest stroke of luck in a video game that anyone has ever had is a bit ludacris.

It wasn't a spy, it was a high level bob director who decided to leave and isntead of just leaving he decided to have as much fun with it as possible, so he went to the goon "spymaster" mittens and basically offered to do anything with his account.

It is still not known whether the bob director's account was stolen from him or not and what goonswarm did was try to make it seem like this is what happened with his account info.

To answer your question, yeah, despite the fact that you can't really do anything in eve without a 24 hour timer (kicking members from corp/unlocking assets etc.) it is surprising that you can dissolve an alliance with a couple right clicks and the correct permissions.

But yeah despite the fact that goons did virtually nothing to actually make this happen and it was solely a director inflicting as much damage as possible before he left, it is a testament to their ability as a propaganda organization that this story is so wrong and on slashdot, but blatantly slanted and often wrong stories are the norm here. (but hey, at least its not digg)
