Montreal, Canada — March 23, 2007 — Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that Boogie(TM) — an all new intellectual property in development at EA Montreal will be released exclusively for the Wii(TM) worldwide in 2007.

Boogie is a unique music/rhythm-based game that takes advantage of the innovative Wii controls to get gamers off their couch, playing and dancing to a new beat.

An anonymous reader writes "After YouTube was purchased for $1.6 Billion, there was rampant speculation that Google would soon be waist-deep in billion dollar lawsuits. Despite the enormous liability issues, Google purchased YouTube for a mind-numbing sum, leaving many doubters wondering if Google considered all of costs involved. A theory has been put forth explaining what Google may have been thinking when it bought the company." From the article "Letting YouTube fight this battle alone with their own lawyers might have resulted in a very public and unnecessary loss that would have crippled Google's video ambitions and possibly caused collateral damage to a bunch of related industries (especially search)." In short, the author argues that Google had a lot more to lose had it kept away from YouTube and let the old-media companies crush it with lawsuits."

frenchy64 writes: "Over the Edge has announced that their Mac-based Unity game development tool will be able to create games for the Nintendo Wii console later this year. So in theory at least, one can design, build and test a game entirely on the Mac, and then go to Nintendo with a finished game to apply for a devkit. And once you have the devkit it should be just a matter of packaging it for the Wii! That is a really cool way to go, very nice idea."

cristarol writes: Ars Technica has an in-depth look at the major changes in Vista, including API changes, the window manager, Media Foundation, WinFX, and Windows Presentation Foundation. 'Even though WPF drags Windows GUI development kicking and screaming into the 21st century, it's not the powerful features — Direct3D-accelerated vector graphics and simple programming model, for instance — that really set it apart from other APIs on other platforms. The really unusual feature is that the new API depends heavily on managed code. That is to say, the native, standard way of using it is through .NET.' It's an informative look at many of the technologies underlying Vista and goes a long way towards explaining why Microsoft made some of the choices it did with Vista.

Its also compatible with all hardware revisions of the Nintendo Wii."

From an article at The Wii Gamers, a new development application called NintendoWare is being developed for Wii Developers. NintendoWare emulates Wii hardware on a PC so that developers can sample parts of their games without having to load it to a Wii dev machine. The motion recognition could also see an upgrade, with a new predictive input tool that uses prior movement to predict your next motion, and a text-to-speech tool is also in the works."

Arnold O'Connor writes "NeoSmart Technologies has compiled a list of hotfixes and patches provided by Microsoft for Windows Vista that address a large number of issues related to waking/resuming a Vista PC (both x86 and x64) from sleep or hibernation. Sleep-related disorders have plagued Vista since its release, though they were not present in earlier betas. Most of these fixes are due to be included in Windows Vista SP1 — codenamed Fiji."
