Try any Adobe product. With your left hand on the mouse, try using copy/paste. The left-handed shortcut is CTRL+INS/SHIFT+INS. This works on virtually every windows application, EXCEPT those made by Adobe where you are forced to use the right-handed CTRL+C/CTRL+V, which is virtually impossible to do with your left hand on the mouse. As a web UI dev, this is a complete pain is the ass.

In Grade 11 (1982) we were forced to use he punch-card machines in com-sci class for the first week. The deck would be sent over to the Board of Ed office and run on their machine overnight, then your printout would be sent back to your school the next day. It was a lesson in being accurate and checking your work, which was sadly lost on the bunch of us.

I agree. WYSIWIG is handy for marking-up blocks of *copy* with pre-defined styles. It ends there. Professional drivers don't use automatic transmissions, they do it manually, so should any self-respecting web developer.

Whenever they use the term "software program", I think -- what else would it be, a "hardware program"? It's right up there with "ATM Machine", which would be an automatic teller machine machine. A machine that makes ATMs! I want one.

WYSIWYG editors are never true representations of what you're going to see in a browser (choose which one) anyway. You're far better off simply previewing in the browser and using Firebug Etc. to be your "split view".

There are some things that are useful in DW - such as table manipulation, which I found indispensable when doing online annual reports and similar work. Paste-from-Word is also useful. Aside from that, the WYSIWYG is a bit of a crutch. DW the right tool.....sometimes.
