The tab bar can be placed on the top, bottom, left, and right. This has been available for many versions. When I started using Opera it defaulted to the bottom so when they changed it in 6 or 7 I just put the tab bar back at the bottom. I'm not sure why but it bugs me to have the tab bar at the top in Opera but I deal with it in Chrome.

Have you ever flown a plane or even seen what the cockpits look like on military aircraft? When you're flying a plane you generally have PLENTY of time to look around outside or inside. Sure, a fighter pilot wouldn't be looking down at his screens while dogfighting or refueling but there's plenty of time to do so. Here's an example of a cockpit: F-22 Cockpit If they weren't supposed to look down why would they give them all those lovely displays? The HUDs on newer aircraft can show quite a bit but they won't show you everything.

I wouldn't say that. Does it really have any competitors? I don't consider anything that requires a data connection a competitor. I just hope this causes others to say "we can do better than that!" so we have better options.

A few minutes to destroy 100 hard drives? I didn't see much for details about the construction of the destroyer but it looks like a simple hydraulic automotive jack. If you've ever used one you'd know it's not a simple pull of a lever and you have a destroyed drive. It will take lots of pumping. I'm fortunate enough to have a very nice degauser at work which can do drive after drive and I believe it takes less than 30 seconds per drive (could be up to a minute...it's been a while since I've used it.) We have gone through hundreds of drives at once before and it took longer to fill out the destruction forms than to degauss the drive. The only reason to use something like this "deformer" is cost.

Opera has only been ad free since 2005. Back when it had ads it was definately worth the $30 or whatever for the full version. Just look at the competition (or lack thereof) it had during those years. I started using it back in the v5 days and refuse to give it up.

There is one thing that bugs me about this article though. They say Firefox is more customizable. The main reason I couldn't get used to Firefox (this was back in v1&2, dunno about 3) was because I couldn't customize the UI to look like what I was accustomed to without using poor quality addons. As far as I can tell Opera has always been more customizable "out of the box" than Firefox.

The things you mention (customers, schematics, etc) are a lot different than a password. If the company has any clue what the're doing then that small, trivial password becomes completely useless immediately after he is fired. I can't remember if it was the root passwords he refused to give up or his own account's password. If it was his own there is no reason for the company to need them. If it was the root passwords why was he the only one with them? One person should not hold all the root passwords for the company's equipment and I'm pretty sure he had a boss that should have made arrangements in case Terry suddenly died.

I recently got the wife a 900HA which has the Atheros wireless card. I tried eeeBuntu and Easy Peasy and was able to connect to the wireless. I know there were some scripts that came on one of them (Easy Peasy?) to fix hardware issues and I may have ran these before trying the wireless.

Get your head out of your ass. The Volt and Prius do just as well if not better than a standard car in a situation like you described. Either you have the gas or you don't just like in a non-hybrid. If you only put enough gas in your tank to make it through a couple days or wait untill it's empty to fill it back up you're in just as bad of a situation as a Volt owner who only has a 1/4 tank or less.

Besides, do you really think that Volt and Prius drivers only have one car?

Submission + - The Cuban Memory Stick Underground 2

circletimessquare writes: "The New York Times describes how hard it is in Cuba to get news that is not censored. Apparently students have taken to passing media around on memory sticks, as this is the only way they can get around state-controlled media. Also driving this phenomenon is the fact that there are so few places to get on the Internet: in Havana there is only one Internet cafe, down from three a few years ago. Ricardo, a 28 year old philosophy student, gets the memory sticks from European friends, since they are scarce to find in Cuba through normal channels. 'Like many young Cubans, Ricardo plays a game of cat and mouse with the authorities. He doubts that the government will ever let ordinary citizens have access to the Internet in their homes. "That's far too dangerous," he said. "Daddy State doesn't want you to get informed, so it preventively keeps you from surfing."'"
