Submission + - Disconnecting Your Android Device From Google

The Play Store is not mandatory; a simple checkbox in Security allows Android users to install APK files from any location and never use the Play Store.
Using Firefox for Android and being careful to never log into a Google service with it keeps your web browsing separate from Google cookies.
If you root your phone, you can reach into the directory and pull out all the APK files, then install them manually. This only works, of course, if you already paid for the Apps, but it makes it possible for your phone to be disconnected from Google and the Play Store and still have your apps. Could a community of file sharers that are trusted peers build up a collection of APK files to make it possible for there to be a Google-free Android phone experience?
Just some food for thought. At a minimum, getting off Chrome and onto Firefox is something every Android user should consider.
