Indeed. But YOU and people like you are forcing the money they spend on drugs into criminal enterprises. Which was entirely the point.

I can already hear you now: "But, but if they did not DO the drugs in the first place, it would not be a problem."

Carry on with your naivete kind sir. Carry on.

I am not part of this Global Warming thing; either for or against. I believe in trying not to affect the environment as much as possible and I am aware of all of the yelling and screaming; however, heating the deep parts of the ocean scare me like building an atom bomb in my basement scares me.

Do you recall the huge tsunami that hit Indonesia, Thailand, etc? IIRC it was back in 2007 or so. That was nothing compared to what heating the depths of the ocean will do. The ocean is HUGE and the thermal inertia is just O.M.F.G. huge. Storing that much energy on the planet can only be a VERY bad thing. I have no idea what will happen because of that amount of energy being stored but it will not be good if it is not released again VERY slowly and carefully.

As long as the watermark does not interfere with the quality, I am 100% for watermarks. I fully and emphatically support the right of a creator to be acknowledged throughout all of time to be the creator and to possibly profit off of the piece that was created. The profit part implies some sort of copyright laws but it should be noted that I strongly and emphatically despise current copyright law.

In short, anything that does not affect the use by the person paying for the copyrighted work is fair game.

The last of my mod points expired yesterday. What a shame because this right here is decidedly very insightful and bears repeating. Sure, a lot of people feel safe and secure and think this will only be a good thing... until they find out that any good from it is an unintentional side effect. By then, it will be too late.

If you take a step back and look at the latest phones and tablets, the majority of them have tile interfaces in some form or another. So, it looks like some form of tiles will be here to stay.

Erm, a desktop is NOT used for the same things phones and tablets are used for. What makes you think that the interface should be anywhere near similar for all use cases? Does Maya have the same interface as Counter Strike? Does Eclipse have the same interface as Civilization V? Does Maya have the same interface as Eclipse?

Sure, they all use a mouse and keyboard, but they use them radically differently. How the hell is touch interface supposed to work with ANY of those programs that I listed? The only one that seems even vaguely capable of being touch related is Civilization V followed not closely at all by Maya.

Touch interfaces can be an extremely powerful and intuitive paradigm, but it is being done 100% wrong at the expense of the usefulness of the other interface devices such as a keyboard and possibly mouse.

Tiles are purely a menuing system. That is all. There are more efficient menus out there than touch enabled tiles.

A country where the Government gets to censor what we see and hear can't function as a democracy. Democracy relies on the citizens being able to freely communicate. That can't happen under censorship.

Removal of anonymity (ubiquitous surveillance) is just as much of a problem to a democratic form of government as censorship.

The shame in all that is they will never be able to have their robot car take them past the edge of civilization as we can currently. I drive a lot in areas where there are no real roads. I get to see all sorts of interesting stuff. They will never be able to do so. "Car, drive forward, turn left, turn right, speed up, slow down" is not really going to work where there are no truly defined roads and destinations.
