This is an attempt at telling their story, and people want to treat it like it's either an attention grab or a money grab." And you don't think this is an attention grabber which will help lead to increase profits for the game ? There's a reason they went for the "real" aspect, and it's not out of good feelings for the Marines.

While the prospect of playing something like Operation Flashpoint in an urban setting is appealing (which it won't be, probably end up like COD4, heh) I'm not that excited over this. I guess it's a case of too close to the actual event more than anything, and sort of trivializes what went on there and was experienced by the Marines, the insurgents and any civilians left. Also the story, if there is any, will probably be censored and adjusted (not to mention it's one-sided).

Max Payne 2 was more complicated ? Snuh ? Weird. I liked Max Payne 2 about as much as the first one, the plot was a bit cliche-ish but I guess we have to expect that from Max Payne. Still with no Remedy on this, I'm thinking it'll be merely ok if not bad.

Submission + - Safari for Windows Gets Better Security

NoPhD writes: PCWorld is running an article that Apple has released Safari Beta 3.0.1 for Windows, an update to their recently-introduced Web browser for Windows XP and Vista. The new version is available for download from Apple's Web site or through the "Apple Software Update" application (bundled with QuickTime or iTunes for Windows). The security improvements in Safari Beta 3.0.1 include correction for a "command injection vulnerability," corrected with additional processing and validation of URLs that could otherwise lead to an unexpected termination of the browser; an out-of-bounds memory read issue; and a race condition that can allow cross-site scripting using a JavaSscript exploit. Apple notes that these security issues to do not affect the Macintosh version of Safari 3. http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,132883-c,browser s/article.html

Submission + - WoW-China/The9 implement time limit on players (forum2jeux.com)

STDK writes: With todays (june 12, 2007) maintanence WoW-China (The9) implemented messures to prevent "unhealthy" overplay. From our english forum page:

Hey guys,

As some of you might remember I posted a link to an article explaining that the Chinese government had decided to put a "limit" on the time children could spend in front of the PC. They had decided to make it mandatory for providers such as The9 to implement a system to actively discourage long playing time. The article also referred to some improved security with regards to account making.

Today while playing something I noticed today while playing. This message flashed by my textbox in yellow:

"You have 0.15 until you enter tired time. Your rewards will be cut in half""

Of course this made me alert and I kept an eye out for more. About 15 min later this came:

"You have 1:56 until you enter unhealthy time, at which point you will no longer receive experience or loot until you have logged out for 5 hours."

This seems to be the result of these measures, since I seem to remember it being a limit on about 4 hours of play per day and/or without break.

Now it raises several questions that perhaps some of you that speak Chinese can learn more about.

1) Is it true, and how does it work in details. What is included and what is not included? Can it be circumvented
2) Is it related to account/login into WoW, or much worse, to the security number you used when you first made a "The9" account, in which care all your WoW-accounts might be blocked.
3) According to the intention it is to block kids. Can we somehow "prove" we are not kids?
4) What will we do when TBC comes out? Only play 4h and then stop? This seems insane.

So, guys, look into this and post all your findings.

We demonstrate the ability to transfer 60W with approximately 40% efficiency over distances in excess of two meters. We discuss practical applicability and suggest directions for further studies.""

Robert Summa writes: "http://www.ggl.com/index.php?controller=News&metho d=article&id=5041 Six blisters on pro-gaming's foot The world of professional gaming is growing. But to say that it is really growing at a blistering pace would not be entirely correct. To say that gaming is stable would already be a plain lie. Why? Because the Benjamins set the course for gaming instead of letting things take their natural course. Below are six reasons why professional gaming is not what it should be."
