Submission + - Judge Rules Defense Can Use Trayvon Martin Tweets

theodp writes: The NY Times reports a judge in the second-degree murder case against George Zimmerman has ruled that Trayvon Martin’s school and social media records should be provided to the defense. Judge Debra S. Nelson said Martin’s Twitter, Facebook and school records were relevant in the self-defense case. In those instances, showing whether a victim 'had an alleged propensity to violence' or aggression is germane, the judge said. The defense also got permission for access to the social media postings of a Miami girl who said she was on the phone with Martin just before the shooting. Time to update the Miranda warning to include: 'Anything you Tweet or post can and will be held against you in a court of law'?'

Fucking Brilliant "pun intendend" require by code enforcement that every house have a dimmable switch or an automatic shutoff,
Now make a law that says I cannot buy incandescent bulbs.. but if I put fluorescent bulbs in I burn out the switch or they use power constantly because they cannot be turned OFF.

This is fucking ridiculous I'd rather heat my house with incandescent bulbs than continue to replace switches and burn out "energy saving" bulbs every 30 days. This is a waste of fucking time and my money.Just how environmentally conscious are we when we put 5 million fluorescent bulbs in the same landfill. 5 milligrams of mercury in each bulb which is enough to poison 6,000 gallons of water. I'm sorry but that just seems incredibly fucked up. When is the last time you immediately had to open a window and put on a mask in your house because you dropped an incandescent bulb.

I'd give a LOT to have led's everywhere in a place where they would provide a good bit of light. My main issue is cost. I will indeed check the philips LED's.

So again, how is AZ racist?
Any Illegal with a grain of brain power would pass through AZ to California where they will be welcomed with open arms.

Anyone who comes here illegally by definition is a criminal.
The fact is the law exists but is not enforced worth a shit.

We live in a country that is in some cases 20 times some others in size. Yet if anyone went to France tomorrow and Spain the next day they would find an enormous difference in customs, laws and Culture. Who are we to say that States here cannot have some differences in laws, customs and culture? I'm no farther from Fresno, Ca than I would be from Pamplona Spain to Limoges France. To expect every state to have the exact same culture and values is moronic.

You don't like it fine, but no one is forcing you to move there and live.

The people there want laws to have value, the current laws are being ignored by the the U.S Government if we go down this path of ignoring laws where do we stop?
Are we going to pick and choose which one's we're going to follow today?

Chances are you don't live in a newer house or maybe not in California. California building code requires dimmable switches to be built in as the first switch in most rooms. CFL's are horribly unreliable "even if you spend $12.00 for the good dimmable bulbs" at working with dimmable switches.

In the areas where I have on/off type switches they seem to work fairly well "not sure if equal to most incandescent or not but at least on par" I have multiple lights in my house that bleed through electricity if I am using fluorescent lights. You turn them off.. and the light either flickers or you can see a dim glow. This does not happen with incandescent. So California in it's ever so insane stance to control anything they can fucks me from using cheaper "power wise" bulbs in every fixture. I end up running about half and half between the two.

Soon I won't even be able to buy incandescent lights and will probably be unable to find a simple on/off switch do to some other policy they'll enact to save beavers.

Well, As I am one of those Caltrans employees.. I can tell you where the money goes that we take in in Gas Taxes, Construction taxes, etc etc. It goes in the General fund. Not transportation accounts. "except for certain taxes which do" So Lets say we have a good year.. and our transportation fund is swollen. The State comes over with its hand out and takes from that fund to put into the general fund. As you can imagine this practice has a way of making roads very hard to maintain. On top of that we have say 40 people to take care of around 1200 miles of road. Between staffing issues, cuts, promotions, vacations, sick days etc. There are typically 26-32 of those people at work. On a good day those folk actually get to do some maintenance on the road. On most days.. they respond to accidents and complaints from the public. So this is a snippet from my point of view. I do live in a fairly populated area.. but NOTHING like LA. SF etc. You can extrapolate that there are more people in those areas.. but by and large CT is an engineering organization and it's more fun to build than maintain.. So that is pretty much how we operate. build more ignore the old.

I work in a place where we have a large percentage of people from the middle east. Most of these people are Muslim. The day after this happened there was groups between 4-6 each all over the building having quiet discussions in a foreign language. Now I'm not a racist. I believe we're all of a single race. But it made me very nervous. Because whether it was the weather or the killing of this guy.. I have no way of knowing. I have no way of knowing if there was some secret plan being put into operation. I fear they upheld this man secretly while publicly denying his actions.. But other than some whispers in another language I really have no idea what was being said.

So while your opinion may be valid. It doesn't necessarily mean the games suck. I hadn't seriously played a bioware game since BG Shadows of Amn and I could really feel some of the old game in the new one. I look forward to this one.
