mrops writes: Few days back there were terrorist attacks in India. Apparently an email was sent claiming responsibility. Police raided an American living in India and seized his computer believing the email was sent from this computer.
We live in interesting times where governments are not afraid to go to extra ordinary lengths to "protect" their citizens, or so they claim. Countries like US and Britain, which were once a beacon to freedom and liberty now justify torture.
My question to the Slashdot community is what if his computer was an end point of a TOR identity. Real perpetrators safely sitting elsewhere. Are the risks of running TOR end point worth it?
TOR is an excellent excuse for someone from west, but say I was in Pakistan, will the authorities buy this or will they be too quick to judge and I will dis-appear never to be seen?
